The unveiling of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 is a momentous event every year. So what’s new for this GS series? Well, more power, added electronics and a reduced weight are some of the things that make it different. This upgrade record is something you expect every year from Suzuki. The Suzuki GS 2009 does not disappoint!

The Suzuki GS 2009 model is lighter and more compact with 999cc cylinders. These deliver more torque and power. It also offers an enhanced throttle response across the range.
The Suzuki GS has 12- hole fuel injectors that produce more complete combustion. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions. The Suzuki GS also offers a drive mode selector that features push button selection of performance settings. This can be tailored to personal tastes and riding conditions. The switch has been relocated to the left handlebar control module.
The clutch provides a more efficient operation and a superb feel. The all new Suzuki advanced exhaust system (SAES) utilizes an under chamber engine and titanium mufflers.
The 2009 Suzuki GS provides a wheelbase that is 10mm shorter. The swing arm is 33mm longer, and this provides an improved handling at high speeds. The BPF forks and endurance design delivers a superb feedback together with a stable and responsive operation.
If you are more interested in the technicalities, the Suzuki GS has bigger titanium valves, shot peened conrods and forged pistons. There’s the standard SCEM plating on the cylinders that reduces friction and increases transfer of heat, ring seal and durability.
There are rear shock absorbers that provide rebound damping that is adjustable. Both high speed and low speed compression damping is provided. There are twin 310mm brake discs and a mono block radial mount piston that takes care of stopping. Weighing in at 203 kilos, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 provides at least 170 rear wheel horsepower- so you can well imagine what the performance will be like…
